SORTING OUT THE ROAD AHEAD - Coast Waste Management Association Conference 2013 Westin Bear Mountain Resort, Victoria, BC (October 2013)

In what is likely one of the most beautiful parts of Canada, VisionQuest Environmental Strategies Corp. (Dave Douglas) attended the Coast Waste Management Association (CWMA) 2013 Conference entitled Sorting Out the Road Ahead (Oct 23rd - 25th, 2013) at the Westin Bear Mountain just outside of Victoria British Columbia.

Once again Team CWMA led by Mr. Will Burrow, Executive Director of Coast Waste Management Association put together an outstanding event that brought together over two hundred professionals from across the country to explore leading edge topics that affect the waste management and recycling sector. Over the years, this event has grown from a few interested individuals in waste diversion to hundreds of
delegates, speakers and exhibitors - a testament towards waste management on the many islands off the coast of British Columbia.

Two internationally renowned professionals - Chaz Miller Director, Policy / Advocacyfor the National Solid Waste Management Association (NSWMA) and Dylan de Thomas, Editorial Director of Resource Recycling Inc. were on hand to present their thoughts and views on issues including an overview of the existing solid waste management picture across the United States to the impact of China's "Operation Green Fence policy on the NA markets for recycled content.

Extensive dialogue took place pertaining to the new BC extended producer responsibility (EPR) program under the Multi Material British Columbia (MMBC) Stewardship Program for packaging and printed paper (PPP) with Mr. Allen Langdon Managing Director of MMBC providing attendee's with program updates.
Discussions centered around the importance of relationships pertaining to all stakeholders including the local government, the generator, the collector and the processor - all key to the development and implementation of a successful program.

Numerous exhibitors were on hand to promote the latest in waste & recycling collection and processing innovation.
