VisionQuest Environmental Strategies Corp. wins prestigious 2014 Environmental Partnership Award (Bronze) from the Recycling Council of Ontario. (October 2014, Aurora Ontario)

Aurora, Ontario –   VisionQuest Environmental Strategies Corp., an Aurora Ontario based leading environmental consulting firm in the solid waste management & recycling industry, was awarded a 2014 Bronze award by the Recycling Council of Ontario  in recognition of the public and private sector environmental partnerships that  the company has  established over the past year.  “We are thrilled and honoured to be recognized by the RCO for our efforts and accomplishments  in  developing and  implementing programs that contribute to the reduction and diversion of solid waste from landfill across Ontario and Canada” quotes Dave Douglas, company president.

For over fifteen years, the RCO Annual Gala has been the crowning event during the annual Waste Reduction Week in Canada where recipients are recognized for their achievements in the waste management industry.  This years event was held on Thursday October  23rd at the Liberty Grand, Exhibition Place.

Through 2013 – 2014, VisionQuest Environmental staff had an extremely active year involved in numerous environmental initiatives including assisting municipalities, schools and businesses with the design and implementation of electronic waste (e-waste) collection and recycling  initiatives.   Through partnerships with Global Electric Electronic Processing (GEEP) Inc., event hosts diverted thousands of pounds of electronics from landfill and received revenue to be applied to other environmental initiatives.

VisionQuest Environmental staff played a key role in assisting numerous Canadian municipalities  with the design and implementation of residential waste diversion programs including the Markham “clear bag” garbage program – also recognized by the RCO with a gold award for highest waste diversion, numerous source separated organics (food composting) collection programs and blue bag recycling programs.  Corporate support by GLAD Canada was established and managed by VisionQuest staff as well.

One of the most fulfilling initiatives undertaken over the past year was  volunteering with the Learning Partnership to provide business mentoring to students at two Ontario schools (Ajax High School and St. Marks Separate School – Mississauga).  Both schools were involved with the design and implementation of local environmental (ewaste collection) events and the students gained valuable life learning’s.

VisionQuest Environmental  entered into the world of textile and clothing collection and diversion through reuse and recycling by developing partnerships with local clothing companies including Plato’s Closet and Once Upon A Child, diverting hundreds of pounds of clothing from landfill.

As environmental stewardship and extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs continue to intensify and expand across Canada, VisionQuest Environmental provided guidance and direction to dozens of companies looking to meet their corporate obligation towards waste diversion based on the packaging that they produce.

So far, 2014 has started out as an even busier year for VisionQuest Environmental as numerous new clients have been added and a multitude of new and exciting partnerships are underway, but that is a story for next year.
